Funeral Services
Antam Sanskaar

Religious funeral services offered by Khalsa Diwan Society of  Victoria BC

In Sikhism a funeral ceremony is called “Antam Sanskaar,” or celebration of the completion of life. Rather than lamenting the passing of an individual, Sikhism teaches resignation to the will of the creator, emphasizing that death is a natural process, and an opportunity for reunion of the soul with its maker.

When a person passes away, according to common Sikh rituals the Antam Sankar (Last Rites) are preformed in the presence of relatives.

As per the request of concerned family, Gurdwara Sahib arranges a Granthi Singh(Preacher) to go along with family to the funeral homes to do the last rites. Japji Sahib path will be read, as well as Kirtan Sohila and Antim Ardas (Last Prayer) according to Sikh rituals.

Following the cremation, the family goes to the Gurdwara where Bhog of Akhand Paath Sahib or Sehaj Paath Sahib done, Alahniya Da Paath, followed by kirtan and Ardas.

For booking, kindly contact the Gurudwara Sahib office
